Giant robotic string launcher

Project Overview

The project was undertaken as part of the UTS subject Design in Mechanical and Mechatronic Systems. Our client, Marc Carmichael, was captivated with toy string launchers he had seen online and wanted to develop a giant version to place on the end of a robotic manipulator with the ultimate goal of entering it to be a part of the well known VIVID Sydney light festival. Throughout the semester, I led a team of 4 students to design, develop build and test a functional prototype of the design. The project was very successful, with a working prototype presented to our client. Along with this, our project won the first place prize at the UTS Tech Festival Robotics Showcase.
